Sleeves Clothing

Ok - I'm a big fan of tattoos, really I am, but I think there is a line that shouldn't be crossed and that line is a company called - Sleeves Clothing. Now I'll give it to them for being innovative and offering something I really haven't seen anywhere else, but most of the concepts they have just don't sit well with me.

See, to me a tattoo is symbolic of something important in your life. Whether that was a moment you always want to remember or a reminder of the mistakes you've made.....even beautifully crafted pieces have stories and reasons behind them. So to see a fake tattoo like this is pretty weird.

Check out the guys selection which is the worst of the bunch. Some of the girl's stuff is pretty nice actually - I'm a big fan of the boy shorts and camisole, but please don't wear them together...yikes!

So props for being unique, but if you are that interested in tattoos - go check out a shop and get a small piece. Just remember they stay with you forever.

Threadless - WTF?

So finally have had a chance to wear my new tees from Threadless and all I can say is.....wtf?! Anyone know if they recently changed their tee supplier or size patterns? My first few orders fit perfectly, but this latest order is all messed up.

The fit reminds me of US cut tees which are boxier, as opposed to the original European cut which are a little slimmer.

I still love the designs I picked out, but the fit is driving me crazy.

Threadless Order Arrives

My latest shipment from Threadless arrived - very exciting. Pretty happy with the choices so far, although the Light Blue for 'Future Under Construction' is much lighter than I thought it would be. 'How to Draw Animals' is fun as well.

Threadless is having yet another sale right now as well! $10 per tee is still a great price. They also have a contest up which could snag you one of each design in 2007.....very nice.

             

Oddica Tees it Up

I noted a few weeks back on an increase in traffic from Technorati for the search query 'oddica', well looks like the guys over at Oddica might have had something to do with it. That post made it into their News section as they do with all bloggers who post about them.

Few things:

• Great example of a company reaching out to their audience and building reciprocal linking (good search spider food)
• Interesting that someone at Oddica is always searching for new blog posts - great idea for any company looking to gauge customer insight
• As a tee freak - it makes me only want to buy more from Oddica...it's just good business

So what is the lesson - companies, embrace your consumers and give them shout-outs when you can. Oddica gave me one sentence and it will probably turn into multiple orders from me and my crew. Bloggers - speak passionately about the products you like, the good companies will find you, as my friend the Missus found out at the Buttery here in Boston (read the comments).

Email Marketing Done Right: Threadless

With all the crap emails I get across the various addresses I use there is one company that continues to amaze me on how much they 'get' email marketing.........and it's not a technology firm or a service provider.

Nope......it's Threadless - the super cool company on top of the tee business.

But you say - email sucks, it invades my privacy or I don't read that shit anyway. Well, here are a few reasons why the Threadless email campaigns work.

• Clear and concise message - usually announcing new designs and special offers
• Simple design that a user can scan through quickly
• Image heavy, with short content blurbs
• Links back to each new design and home page
• Clear 'unsubscribe' message
• Lastly - it's funny: 'Drinks at the snacketeria on me'

Listen - I don't have time to read through four paragraphs of information on your product. Get to the point, but do it in a manner that is not overly sales focused. Threadless does a great job pitching the new designs, introducing news or offers and then that's it. I can scan the designs to see if anything catches my eye and then move on.

Email done right is easy for the user/customer - it isn't about you - it's about them.

Oddica & Technorati

Checking out some user stats this morning over my morning coffee and noticed a few hits from Technorati for the term - www.oddica.com. Dug a little deeper and it looks like my addition of Oddica's site in my links has gained some traction. Odd seeing there is no content, but still pretty cool.

By the way - Oddica is a great company that like Threadless is pushing some very cool designs out there. I like that they put everything on American Apparel as well - much better feel and probably my only complaint with Threadless. I'm putting a new order in at both shops soon, so will drop an update once they arrive.
